Auto Insurance For Pets
Tuesday, 08 January 2008

Pets are the best friends, great companions, and even the family members for many of us. Pets also ride in the cars and therefore are equally susceptible to the injuries caused by an accident.

Insurance giant, the suburban Mayfield based "Progressive Corporation" now offers a unique "auto-insurance with collision coverage for pets." Customers having a progressive `collision coverage auto-insurance' can happily add-up the benefits of "pet-injury coverage" at no additional premium cost. `Progressive Corporation' would be paying up to $500 if their pets were hurt in any car-accident.

"We have pets, too, and we know how important they are to our families, and this seemed like a logical extension," says Geoff Souser, Progressive Product Manager for auto insurance.

Recent study findings reveal that the Americans have more than 150 million pets. Estimates of this study of the `Insurance Information Institute' indicate that the yearly expenditure on the pets by the Americans is staggering $40 billion.

Auto-Insurance is a constantly growing and highly competitive sector. Companies keep coming with more innovative, creative, and beneficial schemes and packages for the customers in order to become more popular.

Progressive Corporation's "pet-injury-coverage" is quite different from the currently available `pet-insurance' that cover specifically only the veterinarian costs.

Prevalent `auto-insurance coverage' safeguards the car owners and the passengers against any damage in case of an accident. It covers mainly the liability, and the medical expenses. Existing auto-insurance policies do not have any provision like the injury coverage for the pets. In case of an accident, it costs heavily to the customers when any pet in the car gets hurt. Inclusion of this `collision coverage' for the pets with regular auto-insurance is a strategic and emotional move of the Progressive Corporation to tap the available market opportunities.

Marcia Fox, a suburban Lyndhurst business owner remarked happily," If it is not added to the cost, that is great. That's a no brainer."

The American families with pets can avail this "Progressive pet-Insurance" along with the "Progressive pet injury coverage "in 46 states currently. Progressive Corporation will be launching this facility in the remaining states including North Carolina, New Hampshire, New York, and Virginia very soon.
